Bridging sustainability and community aid.
Beyond House is a volunteer-run nonprofit connecting sustainability with community aid across the Bay Area with our home base in Pleasant Hill and the Contra Costa area. Through local partnerships, donated and surplus resources become activity supplies, garden materials, and opportunities to support our neighbors.
Our work spans sustainability and resource reuse, education and practical skills, and community connections. Today's donation and reuse programs form the foundation for planned learning opportunities and a broader community support network.
Who we serve
Through nonprofit and community partners, our current work supports children, foster youth, and families connected with our hospital partners. Our growing garden effort supports students, schools, and community gardens. We also work with local partners to expand students' access to career resources and opportunities. Our planned future impact includes veterans, homeless, and other underserved communities.

Active program
Resource Recovery & Community Giving
We collect, sort, and prepare suitable donated materials, then connect them with community partners who can put them to use. Each donation has two opportunities to make a difference: keeping useful resources in circulation and supporting a local need.
Cards, creativity, and connection
Donated trading cards, collectible supplies, and creative materials support card packs and activities for children and youth. Through nonprofit and community partners, these resources reach foster youth, youth programs, and children and families supported by hospitals. Materials that might otherwise go unused become resources for play, creativity, fundraising, and shared activities.

Expanding what we can share
We aim to build more recovery partnerships with businesses, events, and community organizations, guided by the materials available and the needs our partners identify. Plans include coordinated donation collections, repair and repurposing where practical, and broader resource distribution. Event and camping-gear recovery, along with a possible gear-rental program, are part of this wider reuse vision.
Resources for growing communities
Our growing garden effort connects reusable nursery pots, soil, plants, and other suitable garden resources with students, schools, and community gardens that help reduce food insecurity.
By giving useful growing materials another home, we help support local garden projects and keep resources in use.
Planned program
Education & Everyday Skills
Education can help people make thoughtful use of resources and build practical skills for daily life. Our plans include workshops, demonstrations, community outreach, and online learning developed with appropriate partners.
Sustainable choices
Hands-on learning about waste prevention, reuse, repurposing, and practical ways to use resources responsibly at home, in businesses, and at events.
Everyday skills
Basic budgeting, saving and spending, cooking, self-care, and communication skills that participants can apply in their daily lives.
Community understanding
Guest speakers, storytelling, and outreach that build understanding of local needs and ways to contribute. Future partner connections may also support access to employment preparation, training, and educational opportunities.
These activities are part of our program plans. Sessions will be developed as funding, facilitators, and community partners are secured.

Our longer-term vision builds on the relationships behind our donation work: helping individuals and families connect with useful resources, practical information, and appropriate community services.
A community resource and referral network
The planned Community Access and Referral Pipeline would match donated goods and services with community needs and help people connect with partner organizations. Future resource categories could include clothing, household goods, food, technology, and other suitable materials as partnerships and distribution capacity develop.
A future One Stop Support Hub
We envision a free community access point where people can discuss their needs, identify practical next steps, and receive coordinated referrals and follow-up. Many organizations provide these services, yet we hope to continue these efforts as we bridge the gap between sustainability and community aid.
Planned connections include housing and basic needs, benefits, employment and education, health and wellness, and legal support through qualified providers. Pro bono and reduced-cost professional partnerships would help strengthen this network.
The referral network and support hub are future initiatives. Their development will depend on funding, trained support, and confirmed service partners.
Serving our Bay Area community
Our home base is Pleasant Hill, California. We serve communities across the San Francisco Bay Area, with activity in Pleasant Hill, Concord, and Brentwood, and donation coordination in areas such as Richmond and San Leandro. Our local connections include Contra Costa and Alameda Counties.
We partner with the Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce. With the Pleasant Hill Young Professionals Network and Hrexx, we are working to expand equitable access to resume support and internship opportunities for students. We welcome additional community, school, business, and nonprofit partners.
We are volunteer-run and coordinate donation pickups and deliveries according to suitable materials, partner needs, and available capacity. Contact us to discuss current opportunities, suitable donations, or a potential collaboration.
